Yesturday I passed the final exam at my university so now I can put mgr inż. before my name :-)
(It means that I have an m.a. at a technical university)

New plain old PCI cards

I thaught that AGP cards where dying off but recently I found something crazy - radeon 2400 for PCI. Not PCI-e but for the old one! Its crazy but i think I'll buy it - it's not that expensive (a bit over 100 pln) and will fit into my "old" computer. Hope it makes it faster in games, quieter and make use of two screens :-) I might stick a bit more with my computer after all.

There are also other new graphics cards for pci: fx5500, gf6200 and even gf8600. Aparently people use them in computers with no agp or pci-e slots.

edit: I don't think I'll buy it, just change the graphics card ventilator to a new one, and buy a new pc later, and a rather inexpensive one but new - good for upgrades :-)

Stars in Black

I hope Staszek will release the full version of his movie "Stars in Black" this year. I'd still like to see it although it's been a while since i saw his first short video. Filming was finshed a year ago so I think it should be ready soon or at least I hope so.

Kubica wins the F1 race in Canada!

Great news! Robert Kubica has won the F1 race in Canada yesterday. Thanks to the previous second place in Monaco he has now the most points of all the drivers in this years F1 championship :-) I hope i could see the whole race, maybe i'll find it somewhere.

Top Gear car riding by itself

I enjoy watching Top Gear very much and this is one of the most interesting episodes - a car driving itself around a racetrack. It's realy interesting and besides Jeremy is really scared at the beginning (I'd probably also be - hope it wasn't using Windows)

I don't put in an embedded video because it makes my computer a bit lagy if there's more of them. Anyway flash commercials make it even more laggy and the ones with sound are very iritating. Hopefully i can shut them off using "kill flash" in my k-meleon web browser.

Anti beta

Who remembers that the word "beta" was once used as pre-relase, unfinished, not necesairly working version. Now everything new is being called "beta" - it's supposed to mean cool or new or whatether?

I would put beta only on something i knew was unfinished, needed changes and didn't necessairly work all the time. And thats not really that cool, interesting or great that anyone should try it out. I'd really prefer the word "new".

Maybe the next cool world will be "alpha" or even "pre-alpha"? Then you'll get with descripsions like "it doesn't work but it's cool check it out" or the good old Microsoft motto "Don't worry be crappy". Personally I prefer something a bit older but tested better and with less errors. So maybe change "beta" to "new" or even sometime later "nicely tested"? :-)
